Discharge Permit
All Point sources of Wastewater discharge are required to obtain and comply with a Montana Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (MPDES) Permit. Major municipal dischargers like Bozeman include facilities with design flows of greater than one million gallons per day and have an EPA/State approved industrial pretreatment program. The City of Bozeman's Discharge Permit can be viewed at the Montana Department of Environmental Quality website (PDF).

Effluent Monitoring

Our MPDES Permit contains Effluent Limitations based on federally-specified minimum levels based on available and achievable water treatment technologies. Limits are also established to protect beneficial uses and Water Quality Standards (WQS). If you would like to learn more about these guidelines you can find helpful information from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency website.
