 Chuck-Winn

Chuck Winn currently holds the position of Interim City Manager. Chuck moved from California to Montana at age 14. While attending college at Montana State University, he became interested in joining the Bozeman Fire Department as a Volunteer Fire Fighter, and then as a full-time Fire Fighter. Twenty-four years later, Chuck retired as the Bozeman Fire Department Fire Chief. Next, Chuck began his role as an Assistant City Manager for the City of Bozeman. His position involves intensive problem solving and leading a myriad of projects in service to the City. Chuck also has a very rich volunteer life, sharing his vast leadership training and skills in Montana and around the world.

City Manager Responsibilities

The role of the City Manager is to operate at the will of the City Commission with a focus on policy, long range planning, and strategy. Key areas, as identified in the City’s Strategic Plan, are:

  • A well-planned city with a focus on safety, sustainability and inclusivity.
  • A community that supports creativity, education, and an innovative economy.
  • A high performing organization that utilizes best practices to anticipate future needs, and engages the community for continuous improvement.

Assistant City Manager

 

Jon Henderson is the City of Bozeman’s Assistant City Manager.  Jon started with the organization in 2000 as the state’s first municipal GIS Manager, after attending the University of Montana and working in the private sector for several years.  Jon has held several positions within the City, including six years as Strategic Services Director where he oversaw the expansion of a citywide Asset Management program, helped elevate the City’s commitment to environmental sustainability, and worked to bring all city owned facilities into centralized management.  His current position involves working closely with the City Manager to carry out the City Commission’s initiatives in addition to providing leadership in organizational and administrative operations.
