The City of Bozeman completed its Urban Forestry Management Plan (UFMP) in 2016. This plan is a comprehensive review of Bozeman’s urban forest and how we can fully realize the benefits of our trees! The UFMP was developed with public input, professional consulting, and our own Forestry Division staff. The plan was further reviewed by Bozeman’s Tree Advisory Board and approved by City Commission.
The UFMP explains the many benefits trees provide for our community and provides a strategy for management and planning for the future. As the city continues to grow, healthy trees will become an increasingly important part of our community. The Forestry Division and Bozeman’s community must work together for this plan to be effective!

Key recommendations include:
• Planting new trees with more species diversity.
• Improving the maintenance cycle of urban trees.
• Preparing our urban forest for invasive pests/diseases.
