City Hall, Langohr, and Westlake Gardens

Currently Bozeman has 3 community garden areas with plots available for the public to rent during the summer. 

City Hall Garden is located on the West side of City Hall (N Bozeman Ave and E Lamme St) and has 24 plots. The plot sizes at City Hall are approximately 4' x 24'. Water spigots are available. The fees for City Hall Gardens are $40 per plot annually with a $40 deposit. 

Langohr Garden has 42 plots and is located on the north side of Mason Street, between Willson Avenue and South Tracy.  Adjacent to the gardens is a stretch of the Gallagator Trail. The size of each plot is approximately 20' x 30'. Water spigots are available. The fees for Langohr Gardens are $60 per plot annually with a $60 deposit.

Westlake Garden is located in Westlake Park (North 5th Avenue and West Tamarack Street) and has 21 plots. The plot sizes at Westlake are approximately 13' x 45.5'. Water spigots are available. The fees for Westlake Gardens are $50 per plot annually with a $50 deposit.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE GARDENER:

  1. Shall only plant annuals, not perennials.
  2. Shall use only organic fertilizers & pesticides.
  3. Shall bear all liability incurred, including but not limited to, the use or misuse of pesticides, herbicides, or other chemicals.
  4. Shall till the gardens at the beginning of each season as needed.
  5. Shall bear all the responsibility of weeding and maintaining plots during the season, or forfeit the deposit.
  6. Shall remove all silage from the site no later than the last Sunday of October or forfeit the deposit.
    1. Silage is defined as weeds, plantings, leaves, etc.
    2. After silage is removed, the gardener may leave the fence up and put tarp over your plot.
  7. Shall not plant a cover crop at the end of the season.
  8. Shall keep the garden site neat and tidy (i.e. securing all plastic and other materials used in the gardening process).
  9. Shall not exceed the boundaries of the garden plot assigned.
  10. Shall only have one plot per family or address.
  11. Shall not use motor vehicles in the park.
  12. Shall plant and tend to their plot no later than the second Sunday in June. If plots are not planted or overgrown at this date you will forfeit your plot, and your plot will then go to the next person on the waiting list.

Garden plot agreements are renewed every year for gardeners in good standing. If not in good standing, an agreement will be terminated and deposit withheld.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE CITY OF BOZEMAN:

  1. Shall provide the garden plot to which you are assigned on your Deposit Reimbursement Form.
  2. Shall stake and number the gardens in May (as weather permits).
  3. Shall provide water unless there is a shortage or a break in the system.  However, in the event the City cannot provide water, the City shall not be liable for any damage to said garden plots.
  4. Will haul yard waste, providing it is placed at the designated area in the gardens.
