Animal/Pet License - Click the Animal/Pet License button above to navigate to OpenGov to apply online.

Urban Chicken Permit - Click the Urban Chicken Permit button above for instructions. 

Kennel License - Download the Notification to Adjacent Residence(s) Form (PDF) and then click the Kennel License button at the top of the page to navigate to OpenGov to apply online. The online application will require you to upload a Notification to Adjacent Residences form for each property within 200 feet of the proposed kennel.

The benefits of having a pet can be good for both your mental and physical well being. If you have a dog as a pet, you will most likely be taking that dog for walks and that will give you some exercise.

Taking care of a pet is not always an easy task. As a pet owner you must provide food, water, health care, training, proper exercise, and clean up after the pet. You are taking care of another life. Even though they are not human, they deserve to be taken care of and treated properly.

Be a Responsible Pet Owner

• Scoop Your Poop - For the health and safety of everyone, please bring a bag with you & clean up & dispose of any waste created by your pet
• Keep Your Pets on a Leash - Bozeman has a leash law. Your pet must be leashed when on a walk or in parks that are not 'Off-Leash' parks. This includes both dogs and cats!
• Keep Your Pets Quiet - Your neighbors will be much happier if your pets are quiet. Keep them from howling, barking, or whining. Uncontrolled dog barking can result in a citation.
• Don't Neglect or Mistreat Your Pets - For the health and safety of your pet, do not leave them unattended in a vehicle in extreme hot or cold weather. Treat them with respect and provide adequate food, water, and shelter.
