The Downtown Bozeman Business Improvement District is an organization of downtown property owners who strive to create a shared vision and voice for the community of downtown Bozeman. The will commit resources, identify, plan and act on short-term and long-term initiatives otherwise unavailable to individual owners. The BDBID has a goal of ensuring the long-term preservation and vitality of the city's underlying economic, cultural, social and environmental assets and the BDBID will work together to keep our downtown safe, beautiful and vibrant place.
Creation: Created in 2000 by Resolution No. 3361 and Ordinance No. 1517, per Montana Code Annotated 7-12-1121, the district has a duration of ten years. The BID received a ten year extension in 2010 with Resolution No. 4263. On August 11, 2020, the BID was recreated by Resolution No. 5141 and Ordinance No. 2040 until 2030. The board is codified in the city Municipal Code in Sec. 2.05.1970.
Membership: Montana Code stipulates that BDBID board members be owners of property within the district. The Board shall be comprised of not less than five and not more than seven members with a term of four years.

The Bozeman Historic Preservation Advisory Board was created under Division 6 of the Bozeman Municipal Code as a measure to establish a local historic preservation program designed to promote the preservation of historic and prehistoric sites, structures, objects, buildings, and historic districts by addressing historic preservation issues at the local level and integrating them into local, state, and federal planning and decision-making processes. The historic preservation program includes the identification, evaluation and protection of historic resources within the city. The board shall act in an advisory capacity to the City Commission, City Planning Board, Zoning Commission and other boards, and City staff seeking advice on historic preservation issues.
Membership: Members are appointed to staggered two-year terms comprised of combination of up to seven members per Ordinance 1927.

The Police Commission conducts hearings and decides on appeals brought by any member of the Police Department who has been disciplined, suspended, removed or discharged.
The Police Commission is created under Section 7-32-4151, Montana Code Annotated.
Membership: The three member Board is appointed by the City Manager with the concurrence of the City Commission and is comprised of those who are "residents of such city or office therein." One member must be appointed annually at the first regular meeting of the City Commission in May.

Library Board of Trustees
Created under Section 22-1-308 of Montana Code Annotated and Section 2.05.350 of the Bozeman Municipal Code, the Board of Trustees is administrative and shall have power to select librarians and other employees as they may determine and fix the amount of any bond which they may require to be given by the librarian and other employees. They shall have power to receive books with any money available for that purpose and power to prescribe all rules and regulations for the use of books and the preservation of the same.
Membership: The Library Board of Trustees is composed of five members appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the City Commission for a term of five years. Trustees shall serve no more than two full terms in succession.

The Fire Code Board of Appeals determines the suitability of alternate materials and types of construction under the Uniform Fire Code and provides reasonable interpretation of the Uniform Fire Code, as adopted by the City of Bozeman. The board shall hear appeals not more than 30 days after filing thereof, and render all decisions and findings in writing to the Fire Chief, or his designee, with a copy to the appellant.
The Fire Code Board of Appeals was created under Ordinance No. 1444, Section 18.02.020 of the Bozeman Municipal Code in 1997.
Membership: The board shall consist of five members, appointed by the City Commission who are qualified by experience and training to pass upon pertinent matters. Members are appointed to staggered three year terms. Each member may be reappointed without any limitation on the number of re-appointments. The Fire Chief, or his or her designee, shall be an ex-officio member and shall act as secretary of the board.

Urban Renewal
- attracts investment;
- stabilizes and strengthens the tax base; and
- supports the vitality and diversity of the Gallatin Valley as its social and cultural center.
The IDB board is responsible for the implementation of the Downtown Bozeman Urban Renewal Plan and was created under the Plan which was adopted by the City Commission with Ordinance no. 1409 in 1995.This board is administrative.
Membership: This board is comprised of five voting members and two non-voting members who shall have a demonstrated interest in downtown Bozeman. Appointments are made by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the City Commission for staggered four year terms. Non-voting members may represent a specified list of organizations which include, but are not limited to, the Parking Commission, Chamber of Commerce, Montana State University, Museum of the Rockies, Gallatin Development Corporation, Bozeman School District, City of Bozeman, Gallatin County and the Downtown Bozeman Association. Non-voting members need not be city residents.

The Inter-Neighborhood Council or INC is comprised of a representative from each Neighborhood Association. This council is an advisory board to the City Commission and exists to give a voice to neighbors and neighborhood concerns and facilitate communication between the city and neighborhoods through a representative forum.

On May 24, 2022, the City Commission approved a new interlocal agreement as authorized by 7-11-101 through 7-11-108, MCA and 50-1-106, MCA.
Membership: The City-County Board of Health shall be known as the “Gallatin City-County Board of Health.” The City-County Board of Health shall be composed of nine members, as follows:
a. One County Commissioner, or County designee;
b. One Bozeman City Commissioner, or Bozeman designee;
c. One Belgrade City Council Member, or Belgrade designee;
d. Two members, in addition to the member described in 5(a) above, appointed by the Board of County Commissioners;
e. Two members, in addition to the member described in 5(b) above, appointed by the Bozeman City Commissioners; and
f. Two members, in addition to the member described in 5(c) above, appointed by the Belgrade City Council.

Gallatin County Mental Health Local Advisory Council
The Gallatin County Mental Health Local Advisory Council was created in 2009. The purpose of the LAC is to assist in the improvement of public mental health services in the local community and to review and make recommendations to the MHOAC and the SAA serving the community.
