Conversation with James Goetz

Let’s celebrate Banned Books!

This year was marked by an unprecedented surge in the number of books that are being challenged in public and school libraries across the country. Every year libraries celebrate the freedom to read during banned books week which this year is September 18 through 24.

Conversation with James Goetz: The First Amendment and Censorship

  • Tuesday, September 6
  • 6:30 - 7:30 PM
  • Large Community Room

Join us at the library for a casual conversation with lawyer James Goetz. We’ll be discussing the first amendments, specifically as it relates to libraries and censorship. Do you have questions about the first amendment, how it works, what your rights are and how it pertains to library access? Bring them to the event.

Born and raised in Montana, James Goetz received his law degree from Yale University and a Bachelors of Arts from the Montana State University. He is a partner at the Goetz, Geddes, & Gardner Law Firm in Bozeman, Montana. He specializes in litigation and has argued cases before the U. S. Supreme Court.
