Citizens Fire Academy
The Bozeman Fire Department (BFD) is excited to host our inaugural Citizens Fire Academy! The fire academy is a 5-week course instructed by the City of Bozeman's own firefighters. Participants are invited to see the inner workings of the Department, will get to don the gear, pull hose, ride in a fire engine, and meet the men and women of Bozeman Fire.
Each class will be led by a firefighter that specializes in the subject of the night. Participants will learn about:
- Tech Rescue
- EMS
- Wildfire
- Prevention
- Emergency Management
- Hazmat
- History of the Department and more!
There will be two sessions starting this fall on Wednesday evenings from 6:00-9:00pm. You must be a City of Bozeman Resident and at least 18 years of age. Having the ability to attend all classes is preferred.
Class Date/Times:
- Session 1: August 28th through September 25th
- Session 2: October 2nd though October 30th

From the first steam engine in 1889 to the new Bozeman Public Safety Center in 2022, the men and women of the Bozeman Fire Department continue to pursue excellence in their day-to-day operations while keeping an eye to the future to keep up with the growing demands of our community. We are please to welcome you to our first Citizen’s Academy. We hope you learn new skills and a greater understanding of the inner workings and demands of the Bozeman Fire Department.
