Neighborhood News this week:


1)   Encouraging desirable change in our community—we need your input.

From April 7 - 10, 2017, a multi-disciplinary team of nationally recognized professionals associated with American Institute of Architects (called "the R/UDAT”—Regional/Urban Design Assistance Team) will visit Bozeman, volunteering their time to identify ways to encourage desirable change in our community, and preserve our unique sense of place, specifically in Bozeman’s Northeast Neighborhood.  And, we need your input. All Bozemanites, whether you’re a resident or business owner, are encouraged to participate in an open forum to offer public input and local perspective on the northeast neighborhood and greater Bozeman area. It is critical that your opinions are voiced.

2)   Turn Water Into Wheels! 

Join Mayor Taylor this April in the National Mayor’s Challenge for Water Conservation to help Bozeman win “Most Water Wise” City.  If you’ve pledged and Bozeman wins, you’ll be entered to win prizes from energy-friendly lightbulbs to a Toyota Prius.  Prizes or not, though, we all win when Bozeman saves water.  Go to from April 1 through April 30 to make your pledge.

3)   2017 Compost Collection is set to start on May 8th!

Composting Options before curbside collection begins on May 8:

  • The Bozeman Solid Waste Department can deliver a compost dumpster to the residence. The cost is $7.50 per cubic yard and only pay for the yardage used. There is no rental fee for the first week and after that it will be $2.00 per day.

  • Compost can be taken to the Bozeman Convenience Site, located at 2143 Story Mill Road. The cost is $15.00 per ton with the minimum fee of $10.00. The Bozeman Convenience Site starts there summer schedule on April 1st and will be open Tuesday - Saturday, 8am to 3:30pm. For more information on the Convenience Site go to

4)   North Rouse from Oak to Story Mill is under construction!

The Rouse-Oak to Story Mill Road Project will be beginning on April 5, weather permitting. Work in April will include delays and congestion on North Rouse Avenue. Drivers are advised to plan for delays and, when possible, use alternate routes. Replacement of railroad crossings on North Rouse Avenue will be take place on April 11 and 12. During this work, North Rouse Avenue will be closed to through traffic. More at:

5)   City of Bozeman recognizes 2017 Equal Pay Day

The City of Bozeman will be recognizing Equal Pay Day at the Monday, April 3, 2017 City Commission meeting at 6:00 PM in the Commission Room of City Hall at 121 N. Rouse Ave. Human Resources Manager Bethany Jorgenson and members of the Bozeman Business & Professional Women (BBPW) will be presenting an annual update, and Mayor Carson Taylor will present a Mayoral Proclamation.

1107, 1113, 1117 East Main Street. A Master Site Plan with COA and Deviation Application (revised) to allow demolition of five (5) existing structures and addition of five (5) new office and mixed use structures and accessory uses across four (4) phases of construction, and the addition of circulation, parking for 222 spaces, and related site improvements. The 4.29-acre (186,855-square foot) site is zoned B-2 and located in the E. Main Entryway Corridor. The deviation requests a 20% reduced entryway corridor setback.
E.      17041 Bozeman Commons E. Main Development Phase 1 Site Plan (Owens) Revisions
1105 East Main Street. A Site Plan with COA Application (revised) to allow construction of a two-story 17,118-square foot office building with 59 on-site parking spaces and related site improvements as Phase 1 of the proposed East Main Master Site Plan (Application 17040). The site is zoned B-2 and located in the E. Main Entryway Corridor, with current access to E. Main Street provided by an easement to the west.

Downtown Bozeman Update – April 2017

Ongoing, Approved Development Projects:

  • 223 East Main St. (explosion site), mixed-use 3-story building plans submitted to CoB, timeline TBA

  • 5 West Overview, currently under construction, completion slated for spring 2017

  • Lark Hotel Addition, construction started, Victory Taco and Genuine Ice Cream now open for season!

  • Rialto Theater, façade started, wooden walkway installed, completion set for August 2017

  • Masonic Temple, front façade complete, side façade nearly complete, south Tracy walkway still there and hopefully removed soon.

  • Residential in-fill project on North Church, 5-plex under construction

Parks & Recreation Department Update:

Recreation Division

  • Easter Egg Hunt: Our annual Easter Egg Hunt will begin Saturday, April 15th at 1:00pm SHARP! For ages 1-12 at Lindley Park (East Main & Cypress St.)
  • PIR Camps:  This week we have 2 days for School’s Out EXPLORE! Camps and both are full, Cabin Fever on April 6th and Jr. Chef on April 7th.

Forestry Division

  • Costshare Tree Program: Spring is here and it’s time to plant trees!  The annual Costshare Tree Planting program started this week, a great way for Bozeman homeowners to enhance their property while contributing to the growth of the urban forest.  There are 7 species to choose from and the price this year is $75.00.  All trees are planted by Forestry personnel, and applications can be picked up at City Hall, Beall Center, or the City Shop Complex.  They are also available on the Forestry web page or can be accessed by the following link:

TOP Project Update: The pedestrian bridge over Bozeman Creek and the playground in Bogert Park will be closed for the duration of construction activities until approximately June 1st. Call 582-2908 for more information.
