We are a dynamic, innovative and growing community. In fact, between 2000 and 2013 Bozeman grew by 40% to a population of 40,000 residents. Bozeman is also home to Montana State University, the state’s fastest growing university with over 15,000 students and $100M in annual research expenditures.
According to Policom, Bozeman’s economy has ranked among the top ten of 536 micro-politan economies in the US nine of the past ten years. This is a result of our diverse economy which includes high-tech, manufacturing, photonics and optics, the outdoor industry, bioscience and pharmaceuticals, and healthcare. Bozeman has a highly educated and extremely entrepreneurial population; 54% of Bozeman residents earned a bachelor’s degree or higher level of education and Bozeman is host to more start-up companies per capita than anywhere else in the nation. We are also home to several companies creating products that have world-wide significance including Gibson Guitars, Mystery Ranch Backpacks, Simms Fishing Equipment, Bridger Photonics, Takeda Pharmaceuticals, Microbion and Oracle.
Additionally, Bozeman is the regional trade center of southwest Montana with medical, retail and cultural amenities that service southwest Montana. Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport provides direct flights to Seattle, San Francisco, LA, Salt Lake, Denver, Houston, Atlanta, New York, Chicago and Minneapolis. Add the scenic beauty of four mountain ranges, 82 miles of designated “Blue Ribbon” trout and paddling streams on the Yellowstone, Gallatin, Madison and Jefferson rivers and proximity to Yellowstone NP, Big Sky, Moonlight Basin, Bridger Bowl and Bohart Nordic Ski Center and you can see why Bozeman is a great place to visit, start or relocate a business or simply call it home.
As our community continues to grow, our leadership team is implementing the organization’s vision of developing Bozeman as a world-class community where students, families, and entrepreneurs choose to live and realize their personal and professional aspirations, whatever our size.
